Coffee May Block Inflammation

A cup of coffee or tea in the morning does more than just provide you with a reason to wake up—or the ability to keep your eyes open. It turns out that the caffeine found in coffee, tea, and dark chocolate is actually a health benefit, when consumed in moderation. Recent research indicates that enjoying between two and four cups of coffee a day can help your body fight against inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of many deadly and debilitating diseases. Research has shown that lower levels of inflammation help to protect against cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s, certain cancers, and the development of type 2 diabetes. Coffee and tea contain antioxidants as well as other healthful compounds that can benefit the body and improve overall health and cognitive function.
